The Oakland Private Industry Council, in partnership with the Alameda County Social Services Agency and Probation Department, has provided a Summer and Afterschool Youth Employment Program (SASYEP) to the community over the past two years.

SASYEP, known as the Highway to Work Program (H2W), serves youth and young adults ages 14-19 in North County and Central/East Oakland that are engaged with the juvenile justice and social service systems (i.e. probation, foster care, CalWorks, Cal Learn).  The mission of H2W is to support youth and young adults as they continue to pursue their education and gain meaningful work experience. Program participants earn a subsidized wage in the amount of $10/hr and attend weekly work readiness workshops. The program also has built in education/work retention bonuses ranging from $25-$150.
