Career Training

The OPIC team is committed to your success and will work with you to examine career options, assess your interests and abilities and work with you to get placed in an employment opportunity. For those interested in vocational training we can help you with that as well.

In addition to these services, OPIC currently has two large-scale programs under development and funded:

The Jobs Plus Training Program – a partnership with the Oakland Housing Authority (OHA), one of nine sponsored nationwide by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department to provide employment training and job placement services to OHA residents in East Oakland supported-housing facilities, including Lockwood Gardens.

The SBA Jobs Initiative Program, sponsored by the Offices of U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, to support the growth of local small, minority-controlled businesses with workforce development services, consultation, and financial support.

We will also work with you to develop the skills and resources necessary to compete:  resume development, dressing for success, basic computer skills interview prep, and job searches online. We will assign a Case Manager to work with you.

OPIC is here to help.
