Job Seekers

Career Counseling and Job Search Assistance

The downtown Oakland Comprehensive One Stop Center is here to meet the needs of residents of Oakland (18+ years old). We do this work as part of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)Program of the U.S. Department of Labor. WIOA funding provides support for job seekers who need extra help to fund skills training, educational improvement, and on-the-job training. The same WIOA program also has provided limited financial assistance for travel, uniforms, textbooks, licenses, and/or dues.

Clients can choose from a variety of services:

  • Staff-assisted job search workshops
  • Intensive, one-on-one employment training
  • Placement assistance with a Case Manager

Our goal is to support job seekers with more than just information. We provide workshops and training for all aspects of job readiness.

  • Resume preparation and review
  • Basic computer training
  • Job search and interview techniques
  • Vocational training

We are part of a regional network of comprehensive career centers called Eastbay Works, that spans from Contra Costa County to the southern tip of Alameda County. Clients who use our employment training and placement services become members of the regional network. That means that if the place of residency changes, it’s possible to simply utilize a comprehensive center closest to the residence within the Eastbay Works network.

All our services are free and are available to those who are unemployed, dislocated, under-employed, or simply seeking better employment opportunities.
